With the height of 500 meters above sea level, Am Tien cave has a cool climate around the year. The area is actually a small valley with a large lake in the low-lying area, enclosed by imposing mountains.

It used to be hard to find Am Tien cave since tourists had to climb 205 stone stairs to get there. However, thanks to investments in developing Ninh Binh tourism, a tunnel was recently finished to make sightseeing in this place more convenient.

After going through the tunnel, there is a large lake in the color of jade looking down to the bottom. Tourists will reach Am Tien cave full of intriguing things to discover just by ascending the stone stairs ahead.

How to get to Tuyet Tinh Coc from Hanoi?

It is about 90 kilometers from the center of Hanoi to Tuyet Tinh Coc in Ninh Binh, so it may take nearly 2 hours or more to get there depending on the means of transportation tourists choose: coach, private car, taxi or motorbike. Currently, the Hanoi – Ninh Binh bus route operates continuously, making it easy to move to Tuyet Tinh Coc at any time of the day.

For those who love trekking, going by motorbike is the best choice. However, make sure you are an experienced driver and thoroughly understand the traffic law to enjoy safe travel on your own.

The Am Tien Cave lies around 70 meters from the mountain’s foot. Tourists must ascend rough stone steps with rows of ancient green trees on both sides to reach the cave. There are several old stone steles in front of the cave inscribed with the names of persons who helped build Am Tien Pagoda – Cave hundreds of years ago.

Tourists will also see an epitaph engraved on the stone above the cave gate. The cave gate is guarded by two colossal Dharmapala statues and some statues of Dinh – Le dynasty generals, making the gate even more majestic.

Inside the cave, there is the altar of majestic stone Buddha statues where tourists can worship. The cave’s mystique is enhanced by the specular stalactites in a variety of shapes. At the end of the cave, tourists can see a little lake known as “Suoi Giai Oan” by the locals.

Inside the Am Tien cave area, tourists can also visit Muoi Cave and Tien Cave. During the Dinh and Le Dynasties, they were supposed to be utilized for food and national treasury storage.
