Best Ninh Binh to Hoa Lu Trang An Mua Cave with Hanoi Explore Travel

Over the course of two days, we had the chance to explore the stunning region of Ninh Binh. On the first day, Thao picked us up from our hotel and took us on a boat trip in Tam Coc, where we were amazed to see people rowing with their feet! The scenery was absolutely breathtaking. After that, we tackled the 500 steps leading up Dragon Mountain for an incredible view. Thao then welcomed us into her home for a delicious lunch before taking us to Hoa Lu, Vietnam’s capital from 968 to 1010, where she shared fascinating insights about the royal dynasties of that era.

On the second day, Thao’s sister guided us to Bai Dinh Pagoda, the largest in Southeast Asia. We then enjoyed a meal at a local restaurant, where we tried specialties like goat meat. In the afternoon, we had another boat ride in Trang An, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which was truly mesmerizing.
Both Thao and her sister were incredibly kind and went above and beyond to make sure we had an unforgettable experience. They even helped us with things beyond the tour itself, making us feel truly welcomed in Vietnam.

This has been the best tour I’ve experienced so far! I’ve visited Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang—my favorite beach destination—but the trip to Ninh Binh and Mua Cave was truly unforgettable. Although the viewpoint was quite crowded, the experience was still amazing. Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of. We really enjoyed the trip to Ninh Binh with hoa lu trang an landscape complex to visit the pagoda and boat rides to the caves plus a hike to sum it all up. Overall very nice scenery. Our guide was informative and entertaining throughout the trip. He is a very good guide with a deep understanding of Vietnamese history and culture.

Great Tour with perfect landscape!

This was an incredible day trip with a safe driver and very happy and accomodating tour guide, his name was Happy! My husband and I had a fantastic day, it did not feel too long even though it was, we were too busy learning and having the best time. Highly recommend using this company! It turned out to be the best tour we did in Vietnam 🙂 Also price of tour is well justified.

Great tour, despite the sweltering heat! Knowledgeable, enthusiastic tour guide (Mr Trung) introduced us to some stunning sights. Lunch was a very large spread of options, in a dining hall shared with other tour groups. The 500 steps at the end of the tour are well worth the effort for the views!

Great day trip from Hanoi !

Very enjoyable day trip from Hanoi to Ninh Binh. Transfer pick up was slightly delayed but the journey was comfortable and our guide Tommy was enthusiastic and happy to answer any questions. Highlights included the bike ride which took in some lovely scenery and climb at the last stop which had a fantastic view (although was quite steep!). The best part of the day however was the boat ride. Although filled with many tourists, the scenery was amazing and so peaceful. Overall, a good day out and would recommend as a day trip.

Thao was the best guide! Tour Hoa Lu - Trang An boat - Mua cave

My friend and I came to escape the hustle and bustle of Hanoi and were not disappointed. Thao was the best guide. We even got to experience a home cooked meal with her family and it was one of the best meals I had in Vietnam! The boat ride was great and she goes out of her to way to make you feel comfortable. If you’re over the traffic in Hanoi, I highly recommend heading to Ninh Binh and getting Thao as your guide!

Exceptional Trip!

Family Tour at Ninh Binh !

Thao was our tour guide for a day trip in Ninh Binh was exceptionally great. We understood her english. She was nice, friendly, and provided suggestions. Entire family with two boys enjoyed our trip here in Trang An and Hoa Lu – Mua Cave. My boys enjoyed rowing the boat, scenery…entire family would like to come back.

Very good value for money!

We enjoyed our trip a lot! The group was fairly small and the bus luxurious. Tommy’s English is pretty good and he was extremely friendly. The scenery was stunning even though we got rained on a bit. I would definitely do this tour again.

So fun -- our guide, Phong, was great!

Loved this day trip so much! Our guide, Phong, was exceptional — his English was great, his knowledge of Hanoi / Ninh Binh was comprehensive, and he was fun and caring.
As for the sites — the boat ride through Trang An was relaxing and beautiful. Also loved the views from the top of Mua Cave. The bike ride wasn’t anything special, but it was nice to ride around the flat roads. As for the lunch — it also wasn’t that great so load up on breakfast before you go.
Overall, an amazing experience and would definitely recommend this tour (especially Phong as your guide)!

An amazing guide + Great Trang An Mua Cave Tour!

Wow! What a great day with Long as our guide – he made us laugh and showed us so many amazing things! I completely recommend him and the tour. A long day but a great day seeing some stunning scenery and meeting some great people. The guide looked after everyone so kindly and our driver Mr Thang was very careful and safe.

Great Trip !!!

We enjoyed our day trip with Thanh and the rest of the group. We were picked up early from our hotel and had a short stop after about 1h30 min of driving, before the adventure begun. Our first visit was at Moa Cave. The view from the top of the mountain is breathtaking and we were very lucky that it was not very clouded. Climbing the 500 stairs is totally worth it. We also saw some goats climbing on the mountains. The second stop was at a restaurant where we started cycling for about 45 minutes(cycling is optional). After this we had lunch (not bad, not very good, it was ok overall). Next stop was at Trang An boat pier where we boarded a small boat for an 1h:30min trip along the river, visiting 4 interesting caves(the largest one was 300 m long) and 3 pagodas. At a point, we also started rowing along with the vietnamese lady. The views were again amazing. Last stop – Hoa Lu, where Tommy explained us the history of the place in his very unique style.
I totally recommend this trip. Having Tommy as a guide definitely makes this already great trip even better.
